GoHoops by GoZone Games March Madness is over, Duke barely prevailed, and now the NBA playoffs are almost underway. Well, you can relive the excitement of basketball in a fast paced dice game from GoZone Games called GoHoops. Keep in mind you don’t have to worry about the refs making bad calls because it all comes down to the luck of the roll. |

With 5 dice for your team, 1 for the play, 1 for free throws, and 1 if there is a foul, you can play a whole game of basketball. Of course, the goal is to outscore your opponent and all of the same rules pretty much apply here. You can charge, shoot 1 and 1s, get a technical, score a 3 pointer and even have an ‘and 1.’ The dice are easy to read, with dots being misses and circled numbers being slam dunks or three pointers. Even special plays such as the MJ (the 2 and 3 circled numbers are rolled) are added here. Each turn you roll the 5 team dice and 1 play die as many times as it takes to roll without misses. Each roll, you remove the misses (dies) from the cup and roll again. If you get a special combo (ie the slam dunk, 3 pointer or MJ), any misses from that roll don’t count, and you have the option of taking the points or keep rolling for a better score. So technically, there is a chance you won’t score each possession because you also have a chance of rolling a steal, turnover, or foul. The game lasts the normal 4 quarters or 2 halves (however you want to break it up) but each quarter is limited to 6 possessions each (12 per half if you play NCAA rules). Unfortunately, there isn’t a 6th man to come off the bench or cheerleaders to pump up the crowd, but GoHoops is a simple game, and it’s fast, fun, and addicting. I had a blast with my friends playing and most of our games came down to last second shots or possessions. We did however, have one blowout game, but figured that wasn’t all that common.
